'Furious' Prince Harry 'in tears' over King Charles' major move: 'The last straw'

A royal expert says it was the 'last straw' for Harry.

Prince Harry was reportedly "furious" and left "in tears" after King Charles evicted his youngest son and his family from Frogmore Cottage last year following the release of his memoir, Spare.

Charles told the Duke and Duchess of Sussex last year that they needed to remove all of their belongings from the property by June. This comes as Harry changed his primary residence from the UK to the US, with the date of June 29, 2023, the date that the Palace says the couple vacated the property.

Royal biographer Tom Quinn has revealed that Harry saw Charles kicking him and his family out of the property as a "slap in the face" and "vindictive".

"The story of Harry’s change of residence may have come out only in the past few days, but in fact Harry quietly changed his primary residence as long ago as June 29, 2023 – on the very day he and Meghan were evicted from Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor estate," Tom told The Mirror.

"That’s the date given in new business documents filed in the US this week. At the time, few people realised what a slap in the face the eviction from Frogmore felt like for Harry – it was the last straw."

Tom added, "Harry was absolutely furious and in tears about being evicted from Frogmore – he felt his father had no right to do it and that it was purely vindictive."

Harry and Meghan received Frogmore Cottage as a gift from the late Queen Elizabeth II as a wedding gift, with the house undergoing a renovation that cost taxpayers over $4m before the pair moved in. When they eventually did move in, they only lived there for less than a year, before deciding to step down as senior members of the royal family in 2020.

Despite Harry paying back the cost of the renovations, Charles still kicked him and his young family from the property.

After Harry and Meghan left the UK, Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, moved into the property in November 2020. Six months later, they moved to Nottingham Cottage.

According to the Royal Collection Trust website, "Frogmore House is no longer occupied by the Royal Family, but is often used for entertaining."

Harry ready to 'step in and help' royal family

It comes following reports Harry is ready to 'step in and help' the royal family following both Charles and Kate Middleton's cancer diagnoses.

A Buckingham Palace aide revealed last month that Harry reportedly sees this as the "perfect opportunity" for him to mend his broken relationship with his family.

"Harry has told the King he will step in and help, if he wants him to, but there is no way after everything that has happened between them that his majesty can allow him back in," they told The Herald Sun.

The aide claims there is "too much water under the bridge" and for Harry to come back it "would just make things worse".
